Biography
From a young age, I have always had a keen interest in buildings; I recall spending hour upon hour building miniature cities out of Lego bricks. Later leading me to computer games, where I would build cities and structures of different size and nature, afterwards destroy it and build something new and different from before.
I truly believe in designing structures that are in harmony with humanity and the environment. With my work being there to offer a statement on style while still thinking about the natural environment. I am particularly interested in sustainability within building design, and when projects feature a sensitive and challenging context, those are met with great anticipation and I find to be the most engaging. With materiality, depth and purpose being that which I strive to express in my work.
I began undertaking my studies of Architectural Technology at Dundee & Angus College, where I was also fortunate to spend time working with a local practice, and was able to help contribute towards projects. From both aspects I've gained valuable insight and some early experience. I then proceeded with my studies of Architecture in the University of Dundee, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. Though after first year my particular personal circumstances changed, and I transferred to Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. During which my situation had worsened from various personal issues, which had arisen to where I had taken a sabbatical to focus on my own personal wellbeing. After returning from my time away, I was fortunate to continue with the University of Dundee and carry on my Architectural journey.
I am passionate about making physical models, and like to experiment using a variety of different mediums. I am proficient in ArchiCad, AutoCad, Sketch-up, Revit, and the Adobe Creative Suit including Photoshop and Illustrator. From my experience in making physical models I have learnt good photography skills and to edit using Adobe Lightroom.
I'm self-motivated, enthusiastic and live an active lifestyle, I’m an avid runner, and member of my local football team, of this I’ve had to cultivate good time management and organisational skills. Working effectively in a team is vital, therefore I have developed good communication skills, confidence, and a positive attitude. This team mentality has helped me through group work at University, where I have completed some of the projects having had the most gratification working on. I am proud to have had a selection of my projects exhibited each year in the Dundee University Degree Show and featured in several architectural blogs. I am also proud to have been a year representative and am a keen member of the ADAS society (Association of Dundee Architecture Students).
